Melodie for Violin & Piano, Op.16 No.2

Ignacy Paderewski (1860-1941) was a famous Polish piano virtuoso and needs no introduction. After studying with Friedrich Kiel and Theodor Leschetzky, he toured throughout the world and after making a fortune became active in Polish politics and was partially responsible for the recreation of the country of Poland after the First World War, which had ceased to exist after 1796. His Melodie, Op.16 No.2, dating from around 1890 was originally for piano, achieved great popularity and was arranged in many different ensembles. It makes an excellent short recital work.
