Two Light Trios for 2 Violins & Cello, Op.54 Nos.2 &3

Emil Söchting (1858-1937) was born in the German town of Gröningen. In Berlin, he studied piano and composition with Ludwig Deppe who pioneered a method of piano playing noteworthy for its evenness of tone. Emil Söchting spent his life teaching piano and composing, concentrating on pedogogical works. He wrote a great deal of chamber music intended for amateurs and students.

Often, we are asked by players for well-written works that can be performed in public but which are not technically beyond intermediate students and amateurs average amateur player. Here are two such works. These are works from the Romantic era. Although intended for players of modest technical attainments, they are still good enough to be played in concert. Even professional groups have on occasion done so. Söchting, himself, called them Light Trios.
